The goal of this section is to give you all the informations about diplomacy in Europe.
Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas and all the best for the last days of the Year 2007.
You will find in this issue the first part of the summary about Diplomacy in Europe in 2007.
The EDA website
The EDA website was launched in September 2006 by the EDA-Board to promote diplomacy in Europe.
You can find a lot of informations about Diplomacy in Europe (the charter of the EDA, the list of the affiliated countries, the link towars the official list Staaab, the European Calendar and the Grand Prix website).
I continue to work on it to give you more informations.
The EDA website hosted the World Diplomacy Database (the database of the results of event of Diplomacy) and the website of each circuit in Europe.
In April 2007, I decided to launch This week in Europe.
It was imported from North America. Buz Eddy writes for the North American Federation of Diplomacy (NADF) This week in North America.
We can find in it a lot of informations about Diplomacy in North America, like past results, upcoming events...
This week in Europe gives you the last informations about Diplomacy in Europe, like a news letter. I try to make it once a week and you can follow what happen in Europe.
If you miss a past issue, it isn't a problem. You can find all the past issues here.
European Grand Prix 2007 : A travel around Europe
The Grand Prix had 14 steps this year in 13 differents countries. Unfortunatly, the Irish step was canceled.
But, the Danish NDC was back in the Grand Prix and we can hope to see another tournament the next year.
This year, the average size of the step was the smallest we ever saw, with 25 players per tournament. I was happy to see new travellers and a lot of great event around Europe.

The next EuroDipCon will take place in Italy, in Brunate, near Como, on April 11-13. I went there this year and you can be sure that it will be a beautiful event in a beautiful place.
You can see all the pictures taken there in the report section of the WDD.
The first EuroDip Vacation (EDV)
This first EDV took place on June 7-14 in Reykjavík.
On Friday and Saturday, there were 7 players : David Norman, Julian Ziesling, Rob Schone, Vincent Carry and 3 Icelanders (Victor Kiernan, Jon Thor and Jón Þór Sturluson).
Sunday, there're 9 players : the 4 non-Icelanders and 5 Icelanders.
A game was organised : Julian, Mike Frigge (an American living in Iceland),
David, Vincent, David Frigge, Einar Jon Masson and Victor Kiernan. Paul Frigge watched the game.
From Monday to Wednesday, they went and saw a lot various stuff around Iceland.
Everybody was very happy.
About the atmosphere:
It was very casual and relaxed. People in Iceland don't get easily upset.
In fact, as long as there is no life-threatening volcanic eruption with lava running towards their houses, it seems like they hardly show any emotions at all.
We are very grateful for Mike's invitation for dinner one night, for Jón's family connections to a good hotel where we could sleep and play, as well as for everybody's hospitality.
We hope there will be another FTF in Iceland next year so we can recommend it to all those who could not make it this year!
Julian
